John 7:11-13. The religious leaders wanted to squelch any support of Jesus, and everybody was wondering where he was during the feast.
John 7:14-15. Jesus arrived during the middle of the feast, and went into the Temple and began to teach. The religious leaders were surprised at the depth of his teaching, because he had never studied formally.

John 7:48-53. Nicodemus, who was one of them but had come to talk with Jesus earlier, tried to defend Jesus to them. But they, too, used the argument that the Christ does not come from Galilee.
My favorite passage and other random thoughts
I have two passages that have spoken to me through the years, and it was very hard to pick. I will choose John 7:18. But just so you know, the other is John 7:37-38 (about living water flowing from believers). John 7:18 says “He who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him” (NIV). The reason I like this so much is that I want to be a man of truth, and this tells me how to become that person. And like many other things in the Christian faith, you do it indirectly. That is, instead of beating my will into submission, I instead focus my heart. If my heart is right, my will indeed will come in line. What my heart needs to do is to choose to love, esteem, and honor Jesus. If He can become my all in all, as I want Him to be, then there will be nothing false about be.
As I often tell others, in order to be able to love Jesus like that and honor Him as I want, it is necessary to tackle this with another indirect approach. We cannot love as we desire to love until we really deeply understand how much God loves us (Ephesians 3:19). So we need to try to walk with God and ask Him to reveal that to us more clearly every day. You might think of different bosses you have. Some scare you into performing, but others you want to perform well for, because they seem to genuinely care for you. I prefer the latter, to be sure.
