Oh yes. I lived in a spirit of fear, lust, and unsound mind for 46 years as an unbeliever. I fear man. i fear lack. I was insecure. That is because was of the carnal nature and I was unprotected. I I was not born again of the holy spirit and so that was my destiny as a sinner unsaved.
Now I have a holy spirit of courage, love, and sound mind. Through the power of the Holy Spirit whose sword is the word of God (truth overcomes the lies of the devil and the world!), I now have the courage to seek, ask, find. I now have the courage to believe. I now have the courage to be bold and confident in speaking truth while at the same time giving compassion to those who are of godly sorrow over having sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I now have the love of Christ in me to forgive myself and to forgive others their trespasses against me. I now have the love of Christ in me to love the unlovable and to forgive the unforgiveable. I now have the sound mind in me to act when the Master says act (wait, go, speak, pray, be silent, let someone go, run, do, etc.).
Today I work out my salvation (Christ living in me and working through me) with fear and trembling. I dare not think too highly of myself lest I fall (oh my have I had to learn that lesson over and over).
The power of the lie is very subtle and crafty. It crept into the Garden of Eden through the mind of Eve first and then Adam second. It is still trying to creep into the minds of born again believers today. Without the word of God in us, living and active, Christians are no match for the devil. He is not of flesh. He is of evil spirit. This is why God commands :Renew your minds in Christ Jesus, meditate on the word of God day and night, remain sober and stay alert for that enemy the devil is as a roaring lion stalking God’s people and looking for someone to devour, be watchmen on the wall for your own soul and the souls of others, guard your heart conscience for out of it flows rivers of life, etc. We are not puppets! We are an army of saints and unless we wear the full armor of God (helmet of salvation, belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith) and carry the sword of the spirit (word of God) and keep out feet shod firm in the Gospel of peace, we will grow weary and faint. God is the Commander in Chief, but we are the army He uses on this earth! We fight with the truth, with praise, with prayer, with worship, with thanksgiving. We are confident to share and humble to remember who is on the throne!
