For His Glory and with His Glory: My Mission and Strategy, Straight from the Bible

Christ’s love compels me!  He died for me, and now I no longer live for myself but for the one who loves me so.  God reconciled me to himself through Christ and gave me the ministry of reconciliation, and he has committed to me the message of reconciliation.  I am therefore Christ’s ambassador. I implore everyone on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.1

Jesus calls, “Come to me and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul.”2  He says, “Seek my face.” To which my heart replies, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.”3

Jesus says, “Abide in me, and I will abide in you.  If you abide in me, you will bear much fruit, but apart from me you can do nothing.  If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.  By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciple.”4  One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.5

If the old covenant came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory after he had been speaking with God, will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? When we behold the glory of the Lord, we are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory.6

Jesus tells us, “Whoever believes in me — who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on me — out from his innermost being springs and rivers of living water shall flow continuously.”7 “Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”8 Lord, enable me to speak your word with great boldness.  Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders.9

God declares: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.  See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.  Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”10

The other day I was thinking about various passages of Scripture and how they motivated me. I realized that if I put them altogether, they would be coherent and could be used to remind and encourage me. I know I’m not wired just like everyone else or even called like everyone else, but I wanted to share these with you so I can share a little bit of myself with you, and I also thought that some of you might really like these for yourselves.
