He seems to be saying that there will be conflict with other people, particularly family members, for those who put their faith in him. Matthew 10:40-42. Jesus says that there will be blessings for those who even help his followers.

My favorite passage, which many miss because it includes the last verse of a chapter and the first verse of the following chapter, is Matthew 9:37-10:1 “He said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’ And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction” (ESV). I find it ironic — in a good way — that Jesus tells them to pray for laborers to be sent out, then he sends them out. I guess you have to be careful what you pray for! But in all seriousness, I want to both pray for laborers and be one, too.
